           In association with National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad, Dakshinya started a Respite Care Home for Mentally Challenged Children will the main objectives of

  • To identify the family needs for respite care at least from 50 families, which may range from few hours occasionally, to long hours on a regular basis.
  • To compile the needs, and analyze in terms of age, gender and degree of retardation of the person in the family.
  • To identify a location each in urban and rural setup and run the respite care unit, which is easily reachable.
  • To organize the respite care centers including human, material and infra structural resources.
  • To run the center atleast for 6 months with suitable administrative arrangements, study the problems and feasibility, and suitably adapt systems to solve problems.
  • To take measures to ensure the sustenance of the center after the completion of the project.
  • To develop a "Do it yourself" manual for organization of respite care units to cater to the needs in various parts of the country.
