The activities and services rendered by this institute for the welfare and all-round
development of the Mentally Retarded are well recognized by the Government of India
and the Government of Andhra Pradesh by way of sanctioning Grant in - Aid by
the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for its special school project,
since 1997 - 98

The National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), the apex
government body on Mental Retardation, has selected this Institute as one
of their venues, for conducting various training programs, in fact Dakshinya
is functioning under the technical guidance of NIMH, Hyderabad. NIMH has
also recognized Dakshnya by way of allotting one pilot project entitled
Respite Care Home at Mangalagiri of Guntur area, A.P., to study its
feasibility and viability for the formulation of a regular policy.

The National Trust, Central Government Organization (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment),
New Delhi had entrusted the responsibility of organizing their pilot
projects on Prolonged Care and Training of Care Givers
to this institution. Dakshinya is the member of the District Level Committee
and also recognized its development by according a project of Information Centre.

Andhra Pradesh Association for the Welfare of the Mentally Handicapped,
(APAWMR ) Hyderabad, A.P., has chosen Dakshinya Institute as a venue for
conducting Regional Special Olympics Meet in 2001.

The Ministry of Finance, Government of India has granted 100% tax exemption
for donations made to this institute under section 35 AC and 50% tax
exemption under section 80 G of Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has accorded permission to
this institute for receiving the foreign contributions under section 6(10)
of the Foreign Contributions Regulations Act, 1976 (Regd. No. 010190208)

In appreciation of the exemplary services rendered by Dakshinya to the
Mentally Retarded Community, STATE BANK OF INDIA has donated a Mini School
Bus under their Community Banking Services, for daily conveyance of local
students.

Dr Dasari Narayana Rao, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) donated an Ambulance
Van to meet the medical and transport needs of the institute children from his
M.P. LADS Funds.

Sri Y.V.Rao, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Guntur, who is a
constant guardian and guide of Dakshinya ever since its inception,
has sponsored Rs.10.00 Lakhs from his M.P. LADS Funds for
Vocational Training Center block building, for the purpose of
adult Mentally Retarded individuals.

Sri Yadlapati Venkata Rao, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) with great
compassion sponsored Rs.7.90 Lakhs for Dining and kitchen hall from
his M.P. LADS for catering to the dinning needs of Dakshinya.

For facilitating Recreational development of Mentally Retarded
individuals ITC-ILTD Division constructed a Mini Park inside
the campus worth about Rs.1. 5 lakhs.

M/s Gayathri Project Ltd., Laid 200 meters running track & play ground worth about
Rs. 2.00 lakhs for Physical development of the Mentally Retarded individuals.

On 6th Feb. 2005, the educational trust of ICFAI has felicitated
Dr. T.Venkateswara Rao, Founder & Chairman in recognition of his
contribution towards the educational activities and services to the
mentally retarded children in transforming their dis-ability into ability
resulting for their sustainability in the Society.

On 12th of June 2004, Federation of A.P. Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FAPCCI)
has awarded Dr. T. Venkateswara Rao, Founder, in recognition of the institute for the

Dr. T.Venkateswara Rao, Founder of Dakshinya received Guardians of Good Will Award
from Chaitanya Arts at Tyagaraja Gganasabha, Hyderabad, for services rendered

Dr.T.Venkateswara Rao, Founder of Dakshinya was presented with the
Best Social Service Award at Ravindrabharathi Kala Mandapam,
Hyderabad, for his outstanding performance in Social Service for
the cause of Mentally Handicapped individuals on 16th June 2001.
